Anti-Anchoring Bills in Florida

Two bills filed in Florida would further limit anchoring, and one bill would create free permits to anchor for more than 14 days. This week's podcast explains the history of the issue, gives the details of the bills, and shares why AGLCA supports one and opposes two. Florida Municipalities Submit Bills to Limit Anchoring

Two bills have been filed in Florida that could substantially limit your ability to anchor in the state. To fight these effectively, we must retain a lobbyist in Florida. Our 2025 advocacy fundraising has collected just under $14,000 towards our $36,000 goal. These bills, and the potential for others like them, are why we need every member to contribute to our advocacy fund. If we don’t reach our goal, we can’t continue our efforts on your behalf.

Dock Tales: Must-See Destinations

Just before departing our homeport in the Panhandle region of northwest Florida for our first Great Loop adventure, we invited a small group of Gold Loopers aboard 'Spiritus' for docktails. We decided to tap into the proverbial pool of knowledge these Loopers held.  We wanted to learn about the interesting towns they had visited and gunkholes where they had dropped anchor while making their way along Florida’s Gulf coast.
