Harbor Hosts volunteer to lend a helping hand to other Loopers as they pass through their home ports. There are some basic guidelines for this voluntary program and you will be emailed those guidelines within a few weeks. Your participation in the program will vary based on the amount of time you can commit to it but potential ways to assist as a host can include: offering navigational aid, suggesting local things to see and do, recommending boat vendors, etc. Please note, though, host services must remain completely non-commercial so if you earn a living in the marine industry, products or services cannot be mentioned in your capacity as a host. If you are willing to serve as a host, please sign up and we will post your information in the Harbor Host section on the website and your contact info will be displayed on our interactive Harbor Host map. Most importantly, you will gain the satisfaction of knowing you have reached out and helped fellow Loopers fulfill their dream.

This group participates in the legislative or other decision making process on issues related to the waterways of the Great Loop, focusing specifically on issues that have a major impact on a required portion of the route. Most recently, this group has worked to prevent the passage of legislation in the states of Florida & Georgia that limited overnight anchoring. Our fundraising efforts will help defray the travel expenses for in person lobbying for staff & volunteers.

We’re always looking for volunteers eager to speak to groups interested in learning about America’s Great Loop. AGLCA maintains a Looper Lecturer List, which is a roster of members excited about this sort of engagement. We encourage members with interest in speaking, as well as those already doing so on their own, to sign up to speak up! Please put your name on the Looper Lecturer List! We’d extend your membership by 3 months as a small token of our appreciation each time we match you up and you do ‘speak on our behalf’!
