Daytona to Hammock Beach FL
3/17/2017 8:17 AM
Imagine our surprise when we found we were sharing Daytona with 500,000 motorcycle enthusiasts who were in town for the annual crazy Bike Week. Despite the fact that it was also Spring Break, there seemed to be room and fun for all. The Halifax Harbor Marina was a really good one with walking trails, parks, and short walk to the Historic District and an interesting variety of restaurants. Our good friend, Allen, drove over to meet Walrus and have dinner with us. Since he once lived on a submarine, he thought Walrus was quite spacious! We all had good food and many laughs at Don Vito where a colorful waiter served us "food you cannot refuse". Yesterday we traveled from Daytona to Hammock Beach Resort Marina which is quite a spiffy upscale resort on a beautiful piece of property near Flagler FL. Despite wind and a really cold but sunny day, we went to see their spectacular long white sand beach along the Atlantic Ocean. Dinner at Delfina in the main resort was delicious. The only downside here is that the main resort is almost 2 miles from the marina and requires use of their shuttle vans. We are cruising on today to St Augustine where we will make a longer stay. Happy weekend to you, Janet

Notes on The 2016~2017 Travels of Janet and Phil aboard Walrus, our Nordic Tug 34... or as the marinas say, 37 with dinghy davit . We are longtime sailors now newbie trawler converts, it should be quite a trip. We invite family and friends to come along as we record the adventure.??
